Memorial Hermann column: Upcoming Event for Parents In partnership with Babies ”R” Us stores in the Houston area, Children’s Memorial Hermann is hosting educational seminars for parents. Pediatricians will be on site at area Babies “R” Us stores on Thursday, July 17 to answer any questions that parents have about childcare. Come in on July 17 to listen to a presentation from a pediatrician on “Summer Safety”, including heat safety, skin safety and pool safety. You will also have the opportunity to “Ask the Doctor” about nutrition, sleep habits, emergency care, or anything else that may be on your mind.

Kids Health Need a one-stop shop for children’s health information? Visit childrensmemorialhermann.org and select “Hey Kids!” in the Kid’s Health section. There, you’ll find information for parents, teens and kids. Parents, find out all about your child’s health and development, from emotions and behavior to infections and medical problems. Print out great recipes, including some for pregnant women and children with specific medical issues such as cystic fibrosis, diabetes and lactose intolerance. Handy first aid and safety printouts also are available. Print them out and post on the fridge for easy access. They can help you handle some common childhood emergencies and less serious, but still scary, situations such as spider bites, heat exhaustion, and strains and sprains. Teens can get doctor-approved information on health and relationships. And kids can find out how their bodies work. We have articles to read, movies to watch and activities to do – all just for kids!
